Start with Moorish architecture, flamenco dancing and tapas in Granada before cycling south-west through the beautiful mountains of Almijara and Antequera to reach Ronda, a lovely and lively town which sits on an isolated inland plateau. This route will take you through country lanes, on unpaved roads and tracks into beautiful rural areas with some good climbs and welcome descents. The scenery varies from limestone mountains and green hills to oak trees, olive groves and lunar landscapes, and you’ll pass an emerald green nature reserve, home to Spanish Ibex. The white-washed villages and ancient towns on route are enchanting places to stop for a plate of tapas.
