Experience the castles, mountains and medieval towns of Transylvania, a region of pretty haystacks, horse-drawn carts and country roads. On day one, the stone walls, cobbled alleys and baroque facades in Brasov are worth arriving early for and you’ll return by train via the capital city of Bucharest. Each eerie castle and magnificent manor you'll visit seems fresh from a storybook, with the white turrets and red roofs of Dracula’s Castle the most famous. A mountainous region with stunning scenery, expect a few uphills where you may want to walk with your bike to enjoy the views. Cycle past woodlands and national parks, stopping off in remote Saxon villages with fortified churches. You’ll have a chance to travel by horse wagon and optional detours give you the opportunity to see more of Transylvania or rest your legs and drink in the views.
