Overview

Explore the scenic Montagne de Reims regional park, visit wine villages like Hautvillers and Aÿ-Champagne, savor local specialties, cycle through lush vineyards, and delight in local specialties like chaource cheese. Start your adventure in Reims, a city steeped in history and famous for its stunning Gothic cathedral. Leaving this royal city, the trip will take you to the heart of the Montagne de Reims regional nature park, where winding forest paths and panoramic vineyard views await you. Venture along the famous route du Champagne, passing through iconic wine villages such as Hautvillers and Verzenay, explore ancient cellars and marvel at unique architecture. Savor the rich flavors of the region. Delight in local specialties like chaource cheese, andouillette sausage and the beloved pink cookies of Reims, which pair perfectly with a glass of world-class champagne. Discover this Art and History city ! Famous "great coronation city" with its Cathedrale Notre Dame, one of the most major gothic art construction in Europe, Reims is particularly attractive for its numerous Art Deco districts typical of the 1920s. You leave the city of coronations to reach the capital of Champagne. You first cross the coast of the island of France, through its route of champagne before reaching the curious twisted beech trees of the Forest Domaniale Verzy. Admire the ocean of vineyards at the top of the Verzenay Lighthouse or take the time to enjoy a glass of Champagne at Perchingbar, a bar perched among the trees. After the section of almost 10 km through the forest, you go from village to village on small roads and country paths through Fontaine-sur-Ay and Avenay-Val-d'Or. Arrival in Ay-Champagne in a superb accommodation! This beautiful stage guides you through the vineyards and mountains on the Route de Champagne along Marne la Vallee. Here you will be able to admire a rich wine heritage. This bike route will offer you breathtaking views of the Marne Valley. Cycle along the Marne river through Cumieres and Damery where you have the possibility to take a break. On the way to Venteuil, you can admire the view of the Chateau de Boursault. The valley road goes through villages, vineyards, fields, forests until Reuil. Return to Ay-Champagne by taking the other side of the Marne and finally to discover Epernay and the famous street "Avenue de Champagne". After breakfast, the last cycling stage in Champagne will allow you to explore the national forest of Hautvillers. You ride through the village of Champillon and after another downhill and uphill, you reach Hautvillers, considered as the birthplace of Champagne. You reach the hilltop of Montagne de Reims covered by forest and go down on the opposite hillside through another wine area overlooking the plain of Reims. You cycle through Chamery, Ecueil and Sacy before crossing Reims and triumphantly arrive at the foot of the cathedral.
