Pedalling from Rennes across Brittany to Normandy, this week-long journey blends relaxed cycling with layered history and coastal scenery. Flat canal towpaths and quiet country roads link medieval Dinan and walled Saint-Malo with the oyster beds of Cancale and the tidal island of Mont-Saint-Michel. In Normandy, time in Bayeux frames rides to Omaha Beach and the clifftop Normandy American Cemetery, plus wartime sites at Longues-sur-Mer, Arromanches and the Juno Museum Centre. Food is part of the rhythm: crêpes and cider on the first night, a seaside picnic, oysters in Cancale and a visit to a local cidermaker. Nights are in small, characterful hotels near historic centres, ending by the sea at Saint Aubin Sur Mer; e-bikes are available at extra cost.
