Overview

Cycling holiday in Bolzano, the German- and Italian-speaking capital of South Tyrol, known as the Gateway to the Dolomites. Surrounded by mountains, the city lies in a valley just 265 metres above sea level and has a pleasant climate. From your base in Bolzano, you can choose from a variety of routes. You can take the train to scenic Merano and enjoy a relaxed downhill ride back to Bolzano. Another option is to take the cable car up to Oberdozen and cycle through the Alps, taking in breathtaking views as you gently make your way back along the river to your base on the sunny side of the Alps. Trento is home to numerous churches and centuries-old palaces in Gothic and Renaissance styles, and thanks to its prestigious university, many museums, and historically significant sites, it boasts a rich cultural heritage. The cycling routes take you through the valleys. If you'd like to admire the landscape from above as well, there are two hiking trails to choose from.
