DS Roadcraft Tours visited Normandy. The format of this trip was a first, setting off on 30th April to catch the overnight ferry to St Malo. A pleasant crossing made all the more enjoyable by the onboard cabaret. The tour included a visit to Mont St Michel with its breath-taking, gravity defying 8th century abbey and the accommodation La Tringale, in Sainte-Margaruite D'elle. An authentic rural property boasting peace, tranquillity, quirky buildings, its own bar and a barn set aside just for motorcycle parking. Day 2 included a tour of the WWII museum, a visit to Sainte-Mare d'Eglise, Utah Beach, the Isigny Sainte Mere ice cream factory and smooth, picturesque country roads. Day 3 included the German Cemetery in La Cambe, the Maisy Battery, Pointe du Hoc and Omaha Beach. Also included was a trip to a local cider outlet for some Calvados and cider tasting. Day 4 included a visit to the British War Cemetery in Bayeux, Creully Chateau, Juno beach and the British War Memorial. The tour also visited Gold Beach, the remains of its Mulberry Harbour and Longue-sur-Mer. Day 5 included a visit to Pegasus Bridge and Merville-Franceville-Plage. The coast road to Deauville and Sword Beach were also part of the tour.
