This classic cycling tour explores the remote and mountainous frontier area that straddles the three historic Spanish regions of Andalucía, Castilla-La Mancha and Murcia. The various mountain ranges (or 'sierras') that comprise the area run in a south-west to north-east direction, roughly between the cities of Granada and Albacete, and separate the coastal plain and foothills to the east and the plains of La Mancha to the north.
