An electric bike tour from Holland to France through three countries, cycling from the canals of Amsterdam to the Eiffel tower of Paris. The tour passes through beautiful towns like Gouda, Antwerp, and Ghent, cycling through varied landscapes. Biking in Holland is a paradise with water, windmills, and a perfect cycle path system. Medieval cities and villages in Belgium will enchant with art and architecture, not to mention great food, beer, and chocolate. France, beautiful France, need we say more! This is a tour where nature blends with the urban as you cycle towards the 'piece de resistance', or the finishing touch, Paris "The City of Lights". This is a Self Guided tour with a Moderate skill level, meaning the terrain is made of rolling hills with some climbing involved. Itineraries frequently include two or more days with mileage more than 30 miles. The tour is 12 days long and prices start from €1955. The tour begins in Amsterdam, with its picturesque canals, rich history, and vibrant atmosphere. Day 2 takes you through the Green Heart of Holland, rich in waterways and dotted with charming villages, ending in medieval Gouda. Day 3 includes Kinderdijk, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with nineteen historic windmills, and Dordrecht, one of the Netherlands’ oldest towns. Day 4 involves exploring Breda and cycling into Antwerp, Belgium’s largest city. Day 5 follows the River Scheldt towards Ghent, a vibrant and culturally rich city. Day 6 heads to Tournai, one of Belgium’s oldest cities. Day 7 crosses into France towards Cambrai, a charming and historic city. Day 8 follows the Canal de Saint-Quentin to Saint-Quentin, a city renowned for its Art Deco architecture. Day 9 continues through the Oise Valley towards Compiègne, a graceful city surrounded by forest. Day 10 combines royal elegance, medieval charm, and tranquil forest scenery, heading to Senlis. Day 11 is the final stage to Paris, the City of Light, following the Canal de l’Ourcq and Canal Saint-Martin. Day 12 is departure from Paris. Accommodation is in 3 to 4-star establishments. Rental bikes include an Electric Bike (pedal assist e-bike) with a stable frame, low entry, upright handlebar, and hydraulic disc brakes, or a Premium Sporty Trekking Bike (Koga Grand Tourer or similar) with an aluminum frame, sportier riding position, 27-speed Shimano Deore, disc brakes, and Schwalbe marathon plus anti-puncture tires. Included accessories on bikes are front and rear lights, defender lock with plug-in chain, quick-release for adjustments, a small puncture repair kit, helmet, and one pannier. Electric bikes are recommended for experienced riders due to faster acceleration and weight. Rental bikes can be left at the hotel in Paris at the end of the trip for the Amsterdam to Paris direction. The tour includes 11 nights in 3 and 4-star accommodations, breakfast, luggage transfer (one bag per person, max. 20 kilos), electric bicycle rental with helmet and accessories, emergency hotline number, tourist tax, and detailed route descriptions & maps through the GUIBO app. Lunches, dinners, ferry crossings, bicycle protection, and travel insurance are not included. The skill level is 'Moderate', with cycling primarily flat in Holland and most of Belgium, but with some hills and longer slopes in northern France, becoming steeper closer to Paris. Daily distances are substantial and require good training. Airports for the start are Amsterdam Schiphol International Airport (AMS) and Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport (CDG). Local travel from Schiphol to Amsterdam Central is by train (15-20 minutes). From CDG, the TGV 2 to Paris Nord and then subway is an option. Note: bicycles are not permitted on trains between Amsterdam and Paris. The tour operator is Dutch Bike Tours, emphasizing a strong relationship with local partners and travelers helping travelers. They are not a broker and do not inflate tour prices. The tour is also offered in the reverse direction: Paris to Amsterdam. This itinerary also spans 12 days, starting in Paris and ending in Amsterdam, covering similar cities and landscapes. There is an option to add an extra night in Ghent for a rest day on the Amsterdam to Paris itinerary. This requires booking an extra day's bike rental. If a day of rest is added in Ghent, the journey will start a day earlier, but the arrival date in Paris remains the same.
