Overview

The North-South Route connects two of the most beautiful cities of Switzerland, starting at the tripoint in Basel and crossing the Jura mountains to Lucerne. It continues through central Switzerland and up towards the Gotthard pass, then rolls past the castles of Bellinzona and continues to Monte Ceneri with a marvellous view over Lake Maggiore. The final kilometers are enjoyed on quiet roads to the sparkling waters of Lake Lugano. The tour offers a challenging start in the hills of Jura, followed by smooth riding through the Mittelland and past Lake Lucerne. It includes an uphill section from Amsteg towards the pass and a downhill ride over the cobblestones of the Tremola road. Some traffic may be encountered around urban centers. 7 nights accommodation in 3* hotels and Hospiz on Gotthardpass, including breakfast and daily luggage transfers. Subsidy for arrival by train, and the Ticino Ticket with numerous inclusive services and discounts (upon request at the hotel). A boat ride from Beckenried to Fluelen (bicycle included), carefully elaborated route description, and digital travel documents including a navigation app. One-year SwitzerlandMobility-Plus subscription and a service hotline. Daily departure from June to September, with the tour available over 8 days (including arrival and departure days). Optional extra nights available in Basel and Lugano. Arrival in Basel by public transport. Luggage handover by 10:00 a.m. at the latest. Departure by public transport from Lugano, with suitcases returned to the partner hotel by 5:00 p.m. at the latest.
