Overview

The 'Canal des 2 Mers' links up the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea. This bike itinerary leads you along the Canal de Garonne from Bordeaux to Toulouse. Then, you will join the Canal du Midi, UNESCO World Heritage, to the Mediterranean Sea. You will follow this ancient canal towpath, converted as a promenade and discovery space, to share with walkers and boaters. This is a Level 4 tour, recommended for sustained cycling and great bike fitness. Included: 11 nights in 2*/3* accommodation (3*/4* available on request), Breakfast, 2 Dinners (drinks excl), Luggage transfer during the bike stages (1 luggage, 20kg per person), 1 Travel folder (per room) including colour maps, City taxes, Personalised app navigation, Hotline 7-days a week. Not included: 9x Dinner, Drinks and lunches, Tickets to attractions, tours of attractions, Bike rental, Helmets, Transfer to the starting point. Cycle through the countryside and join the Canal des-deux-mers. Day 4: Marmande – Agen | 64km. Stops at 'Le Mas-d’Agenais' with St. Vincent church and Damazan. Day 5: Agen – Moissac | 43km. Visit Moissac, an unmissable stage of the St Jacques de Compostelle pilgrimage, and its Romanesque abbatial church. Day 6: Moissac – Toulouse | 68km. Arrive in Toulouse, the 'Ville rose', and explore its city centre. Day 7: Toulouse – Castelnaudary | 61km. Cycle through the 'Lauragais' country and arrive in Castelnaudary, famous for its 'Cassoulet'. Day 8: Castelnaudary – Carcassonne | 41km. Explore the Cathar country and the impressive medieval city of Carcassonne. Day 9: Carcassonne – Homps (or Olonzac) | 42km. Cycle between the Aude river and the canal, visiting villages and canal bridges. Day 10: Homps (or Olonzac) – Béziers | 64km. Ride through charming villages, passing the Malpas tunnel and the Fonsérannes locks before reaching Béziers. Day 11: Béziers – Sète | 50km. Cycle towards the Mediterranean Sea, along the canal and Herault river, arriving in Sète. Day 12: Departure during the day.
