Overview

You’ll have a fine time in wine country on this Burgundy self guided cycling tour. Expect leisurely cycling over your eight day visit, with plenty of tastings, attractions and delicious distractions along the way. Beaune Rully Buzy Nolay self guided cycling luggage transfer breakfasts included bike hire as an optional extra – option to upgrade to an e bike. Price per person sharing a double includes 7 nights’ accommodation (2* and 3* hotels & guesthouses of charm) with breakfast, luggage transfers, GPS, assistance if needed, and tax & service fees. Hybrid, e-bike and racing bike rentals available. A highlight of this trip is the vineyards and caves – you can peruse a few wine bars and wine tasting venues in Beaune, known as the ‘capital of Burgundy wines’ before you start your ride, and then you’ll find yourself pedalling through Pinot noir vineyards and cycling through Chardonnay territory. Burgundy is not known for its hills, and most of the region is flat or undulating. You’ll enjoy five days of cycling – with an option to cycle on your rest day, too, if you fancy. The trip has been graded easy, meaning that you can expect leisurely pedalling of distances between 23km and 80km a day, though your 80km day can be swapped for a shorter route if you prefer. This trip includes seven nights of accommodation in two and three star properties. Mostly family run, they’ve been picked out because of their authenticity and charm – and sometimes because they’ve got a great restaurant! You’ll stay in four places across the route – in Beaune, Rully, Buzy and Nolay. Breakfasts are included, but lunches and dinners are best spent out in the towns and villages along the route, where you’ll find fantastic options. You’ll be supported by a navigation app and tourism information, with help from a local representative just a phone call away if you ever need it, and you’ll get your luggage transferred ahead of you each day. Bike hire is available for a fee; e bikes are available as an upgrade. Beaune is just a couple of hours from Paris by train – if you want to get here by rail, you can! This is a self guided trip that can be made at any time between March and October. Travelling by bike, you are no longer an observer you are a peaceful and friendly actor of local people, environment and culture. You will be cycling on greenways where no motorized traffic is allowed. For the most part, you'll follow canal towpaths, but the route also features vineyard paths, disused railway lines and little country roads. During this tour you will get the best out of fine local produce – tasting Burgundy's exceptional wines and the tasty, authentic cuisine. We recommend travel by train, a much more eco-friendly solution. To travel within Europe, we recommend taking trains over renting cars, or air transports. Trains are more energy-efficient and will minimize the CO2 emission by capita. In cities, we recommend clients to use public transportations, or to walk or bike. City bike rentals are more and more widely available in big and medium-sized cities across Europe they are the best way to get around congested cities. We are based in France. This is where we live and work. Our office is located in the French Alps, just a stone's throw from the Swiss border, and we ride the very same roads we recommend to you for your cycling vacations. As firm believers of sustainable development, we have established a friendly network of professionals comprised mainly of local tour guides, small operators, and family-run agencies. Most of our people have created their own jobs/enterprises in order to live their passion for the region and cultural heritage. All have extensive travel experience and have lived in various places before falling in love with the area they now call home. Relying on local guides and family-owned hotels, you will be ensured a warm, personalized welcome. All properties are run by people who have a passion for their region and its cultural, gastronomic, and historical heritage. We use genuine places with local charm, blending harmoniously into the environment. Our hotels offer guests a pleasant, nice-sized environment. Some of them have as few as two rooms, while others are small human-sized hotels. Travelling with us guarantees that you will be taken care of by caring professionals who chose to build their lives here. Forget the non-descript and indistinguishable big chain hotels — we use genuine places with local charm! All the properties we use are run by people who have a passion for their region and its cultural, gastronomic, and historical heritage.
