Overview

This two-week classic Cuba cycle holiday allows for an in-depth exploration of Cuba, starting with a cycling tour of Havana, rich in colonial charm, modern Latin culture, and revolutionary history. The journey continues to Las Terrazas, a lush biosphere reserve in the Sierra del Rosario mountain range. Further cycling through stunning rural scenery in Pinar del Rio, the world's premier tobacco-growing region, includes a day trip to the idyllic Caribbean beach of Cayo Jutias. The tour then proceeds to central Cuba, visiting Santa Clara, an icon of the Cuban revolution and Che Guevara's final resting place. On the southern coast, participants will explore Trinidad and the surrounding Escambray mountains, cycle west along the coast to elegant Cienfuegos, with a stop at its elaborate botanical gardens. The itinerary includes a visit to the infamous Bay of Pigs, followed by snorkeling in a nearby natural pool. The final days involve cycling westwards through dramatic valleys to Playa Jibacoa on the northern coast, before returning to Havana. The holiday requires a reasonable level of fitness, with daily cycling distances ranging from 23km to 77km, and includes a couple of days off the bike. Experienced local guides lead the tours, and stays in casas particulares (homestays) offer insight into everyday Cuban life.
