Overview

English Cottage Country: Rural Roads and Verdant Views to Oxford. This 6-day/5-night tour is rated Level 2 and is part of the Classic Collection. It offers a journey through the English countryside by bicycle, discovering quirky market towns, rivers framed in gorgeous greenery, and honey-colored cottages. The tour explores the Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) spanning Gloucestershire to Oxfordshire counties, known for its peaceful stands of beech trees and limestone bedrock. Day 1: Bath to the Cotswolds, starting in Bath and transferring to the Cotswolds. Includes a short ride through charming villages like Easton Grey and Leighterton, with an option to try lawn bowls. Accommodation is at a traditional country house and spa in Gloucestershire. Day 2: Cottage Countryside Loop, featuring quiet roads through rolling countryside, a stop at a farm shop in Frampton Mansell for lunch, and a visit to Tetbury to browse the Highgrove shop. Includes a wine tasting at Woodchester Valley Vineyard. Accommodation is at Calcot & Spa. Day 3: Cotswolds Classic, visiting iconic villages built of pale-yellow Cotswold limestone. Includes a picnic lunch outside Bibury, a visit to Bourton-on-the-Water (the 'Venice of the Cotswolds'), and exploration of the twin villages of Upper and Lower Slaughter. Dinner is at the Lords of the Manor Hotel restaurant. Day 4: Birthplace of the Bard, with a transfer to Stratford-upon-Avon for a private tour of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). Includes a ride along the Stratford Greenway and through rolling fields to Moreton-in-Marsh. Dinner is at a guide-favorite restaurant. Accommodation is at Lords of the Manor Hotel. Day 5: English History Ride, featuring a ride to Sudeley Castle, the former home of Queen Katherine Parr. Explores the village of Winchcombe and the 'Jewel of the Cotswolds,' Broadway. Includes a tasting of local gin or whisky. The evening features Morris dancers and a farewell tasting menu dinner at the hotel's award-winning restaurant. Accommodation is at Lords of the Manor Hotel. Day 6: Cheers to the Cotswolds, with a final stroll in the hotel gardens before a private transfer to Oxford train station. Arrival Details: Pick-up in Bath Spa Train Station at 11:00 am. Departure Details: Drop-off in Oxford Train Station at 12:00 pm.
