Cycle the beautiful Dalmatian Coast in Croatia, seeing two of its islands by bike as well as beautiful areas of the mainland. The cities of Split and Dubrovnik make splendid bookends at the start and finish of the tour. This trip starts near Split in the seaside town of Kastel Kambelovac. A full city tour of Split follows before you hop on the ferry for a few days exploring the islands of Hvar and Korcula. Returning to the mainland you get beautiful rides on the Peljesac Peninsula and the Kinavle Valley before the trip ends in Dubrovnik. Exploring two of Croatia’s Dalmatian Islands is a highlight, and you’ll reach their pebbly shores by ferry. You get two nights on Hvar, including one full day of exploring by bike, and two nights on Korcula, including one day of exploring in the saddle. On both islands you can cycling through vineyards and villages and visit local wineries for tastings along the way. Expect moderate cycling on this trip: you’ll cycle 220km over six days, cycling between 30km and 62km a day, mostly on quiet, paved roads. You're accompanied by a support vehicle at all times. Bike hire is included, and you can also hire an e bike if you'd prefer to spend less energy pedalling and more energy enjoying the gorgeous views. Small group travel is not large group travel scaled down. It is modelled on independent travel – but with the advantage of a group leader to take care of the itinerary, accommodation and tickets, and dealing with the language. It’s easy to tick off the big sights independently – but finding those one-off experiences, local festivals, travelling markets and secret viewpoints is almost impossible for someone without the insider knowledge gained from years in the field. Those with a two-week holiday, a small group tour will save valuable planning time.
