Thread roads between Silk Road cave towns, vineyards and monasteries on this gorgeous Georgian cycling adventure over nine exciting days. After some sightseeing with a local guide in Tbilisi, it's time to take to your bikes. This holiday takes you on two loops – one west of Tbilisi towards Akhaltsikhe, and one east towards Kvareli, using a minibus to reach the start of some stunning rides. There's plenty of free time out of the saddle too – allowing you to explore the capital, do some wine tasting and visiting historic sights like Rabai Castle and the cave town at Vardzia. Expect moderate cycling on this trip, mostly on tarmacked roads. Cycling distances range from 40km to 75km a day and you’ll have a support vehicle travelling with you at all times in case you need a rest, a snack or a repair. There's the option to hire an e-bike for an additional charge. The most challenging cycle is up to Gombori Pass, a steep climb but with fantastic views at the top, and the pleasure of descending down into Kakheti, Georgia’s stunning wine region, afterwards, to wind between vineyards on the way to a wine tasting. Local wine is a highlight on this trip, but so is all the other great Georgian cuisine that will fuel your ride. You’ll stay in some family-run guesthouses and eat at local restaurants along the way to get the full experience of this beautiful country.
