Overview

Bohemian Forests and Baroque Castles from Vienna to Prague. This is a 6 days / 5 nights Family tour with a Level 1 difficulty. The tour includes witnessing a falconry demonstration in the meticulously manicured gardens of Lednice castle, rafting on the same whitewater rapids featured in the Slalom World Cup, crossing several UNESCO sites off your must-see list, including Prague Castle and the Wachau Valley, riding the flower-freckled former roads of the Iron Curtain for a pointed lesson in Cold War history, and discovering fairytale castles in the Kokořínsko Nature Preserve and enjoying the beautiful Vltava Valley. Day 1 involves a transfer to the fairytale village of Dürnstein, a hike up to Dürnstein Castle ruins, learning about King Richard Lionheart's imprisonment, and enjoying a view over the Danube River. Guests stay two evenings at the historic Hotel Richard Löwenherz. Day 2 is for cycling along the Danube, with a bike fitting and safety review. The route goes through charming villages like Weissenkirchen and Spitz, with a ferry crossing to Melk to visit the Benedictine Monastery. A boat ride returns to Dürnstein. Day 3 features a transfer to Valtice on the Czech-Austrian border, cycling through the Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Highlights include Lednice Château with a falconry demonstration, Valtice Château's wine cellars, and a ride to Mikulov. The evening includes a cooking lesson focusing on local Jewish cuisine. Day 4 involves a transfer to the Kokořínsko nature preserve, cycling through sandstone formations and traditional wooden villages to Kokořín Castle, hiking to the top for views, passing a rock-cut home, and arriving at the hotel in the Elbe Valley. Day 5 includes rafting the Veltrusy Whitewater Slalom Course, a private tour and picnic lunch at Nelahozeves Château, and riding the Dvořák path to Prague. The day ends with dinner in a stylish local restaurant. Day 6 is dedicated to exploring Prague on foot, including Prague Castle, Old Town, New Town, and Lesser Town, with activities designed for children. The tour concludes with a final lunch in the castle's gardens. Arrival details: Pick-up in Vienna, Austria, at 1:00 pm from a Vienna Hotel or Vienna International Airport. Departure details: Drop-off at Hotel Paris in Prague, Czech Republic, between 1:00–2:00 pm. Traveler notes: Air conditioning may not be standard in Czech hotels due to energy efficiency focus. Moisture-wicking clothing or daypacks are recommended but not required. Younger traveler information: This itinerary is designed for children ages 7–12+. Children must be at least 7 years old to ride their own bike. E-bikes are available for ages 14+. Trailers and tag-along bikes are available for younger children. Safety triangles are provided to all children.
