Make your own piece of history on the slopes of Semnoz, la Madeleine, la Croix du Fer, Glandon, Telegraph and Galibier as you pedal south to finish in style on the summit of Alpe d'Huez. As well as accumulating more than the height of Everest during the camp, you will gain valuable climbing and descending skills from our experienced guides. They know – because they’ve all completed Everestings themselves! Day 1: Welcome to France! Meet your guides at Grenoble train station and take a 90-minute transfer to Lake Annecy. Head out for a warm-up ride and the first climb of the tour – Col de Leschaux. Spend the night at Les Trésoms Spa and Lake Resort 4*, with spectacular views of Lake Annecy. The medieval centre of Annecy is a 15-minute walk away. Day 2: Lake Annecy to Albertville. Day two consists of an 87km point-to-point ride from Lake Annecy to Albertville. Highlight stages include Semnoz (16km, 1,150m, 7% avg gradient) and Col du Frene (12km, 300m, 3% avg gradient). Spend the night at Hotel Million, a wonderful bourgeois house from 1770 converted into a traditional French hotel. Day 3: Albertville to La Toussuire ferry. Day three offers another point-to-point ride from Albertville to La Toussuire, with two spectacular climbs – Col de la Madeleine (25km, 1,600m, 6% avg) and La Toussuire (19km, 1,100m, 5.5% avg). Spend the afternoon and evening at Le Beausoleil, a traditional chalet-style accommodation in the village of La Toussuire. Enjoy a warm welcome and seasonal produce in the restaurant. Day 4: La Toussuire to Bourg-d'Oisans. On day 4, prepare for another point-to-point ride from La Toussuire to Bourg-d'Oisans. Conquer Col du Télégraphe (11km, 800m, 7% avg) and Col du Galibier (18km, 1,200m, 7% avg) – the highest point of the Tour de France. Spend the night at Hotel Grandes Rousses, a fabulous hotel at the top of Alpe d'Huez. Relax in the spa, enjoy surf & turf cuisine in the restaurant and have a drink in the bar. Day 5: Alpe d'Huez. The final ride day, day 6, you will tackle the imposing Alpe d'Huez (15km, 1,147m, 8% avg gradient) and its 21 hairpin bends. Enjoy the stunning views and magnificent descent. Spend the last night at Hotel Grandes Rousses 4*. Day 6: Departures from Grenoble. Enjoy a final breakfast at the hotel before heading out of the Alps. There will be a group transfer to Grenoble train station, which takes approximately one hour. Safe travels. Full Support: Enjoy the assistance of our team of professional guides and support vehicle. The support vehicle is stocked with natural food, electrolytes and water, as well as a full set of tools to deal with any mechanical issues. Some days the support team will serve up a delicious picnic at a scenic spot en route. Enjoy local food chosen to keep you energised and healthy.
