Day 1 Arrival in Dijon: Welcome to the Capital of Burgundy! Walk around in the medieval streets, have a drink in a café terrace on Place du Bareuzei to taste a Kir with blackcurrant cream. You will be amazed by the numerous old buildings all over the city: Medieval houses, private mansions, imposing town house, squares, parks and gardens. Day 2 Dijon – Beaune | 49 km: This first bike stage leads you to Beaune, toward the most amazing part of the Burgundy vineyards: the Côte de Nuits. You will come across these great names well-known all over the world: Chambolle Musigny, Vosne Romanée, and the most expensive wine of Burgundy: Romanée Conti. Don’t miss the visit of the exceptional castle of Clos Vougeot. Day 3 Beaune – Chalon-sur-Saône | 47 km + option ‘Nolay’ 15 km: Ride in the middle of the “Côte de Beaune” vineyards, as Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Pommard, following the 'green way'. It will lead you through the vineyards in this beautiful Burgundian countryside, to Chalon-sur-Saône. We suggest a nice detour in the direction of ‘le château de la Rochepot’, wonderful Medieval fortress, with glazed roof tiles, as well as the typical and charming village of Nolay surrounded by the ‘Hautes Côtes de Beaune’ vineyards. Day 4 Chalon-sur-Saône – Cluny | 50 km: Admire the beautiful landscapes of Southern Burgundy. Among the treasures: the chateau de Cormatin and its gardens, unique in France for its exceptionally well-preserved interiors from the reign of Louis 13th (1628). Then you arrive in the beautiful town of Cluny, well known for the vestiges of its Romanesque Abbey founded in 910! Day 5 Cluny – Mâcon | 31 km (or 37 km - ‘Vineyards’ version): This last stage will bring you to Berzé-le-Chatel and its mediaeval chateau overlooking the vineyards and the beautiful landscapes that the French poet Lamartine used to admire. Possibility to leave the “Voie Verte” to ride along the small country roads to enter in the heart of Burgundy, riding through charming villages and the ‘chateau de Pierreclos’. Keep going to Mâcon following the green way. Day 6 Departure during the day.
