Explore the sobering and still-intact trenches and bunkers of WWI on the Cinque Torri. Dine in a secluded mountain chalet in Alta Badia as the sun sinks behind the Alps. Pedal through vineyards, peaceful pastures, and picture-perfect mountain villages on car-free bike paths. Enjoy regional wine and local specialties for lunch in the village of Gudon at a historic tavern. Explore the grounds of the historic monastery of Novacella, where monks have been making wine since 1142. This evening we'll enjoy an incredible dinner with a local Ladin family on their farm in the mountains. Our trek culminates at the Pralongia Plateau, a high mountain meadow known as the “amphitheater of the Dolomites” for its panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Along the way, we'll stop to meet our friend David at his farmhouse, where we'll have the chance to sample some fresh cheeses. Our hike around the Cinque Torri leads us to the remaining trenches, bunkers, and traces of this incredible history. At the top of the mountain, stop for lunch at a refuge well-known for its gourmet fare.
