A 5 day / 6 night gravel bikepacking trip from Faro to Lisbon, designed for gravel riding and suitable for gravel bikes or road bikes with gravel tires. The tour is predominantly on small roads but includes gravel paths, typically 4x4 tracks, requiring tires that can handle such terrain. The trip offers a mix of road and gravel sections, with technically not too difficult but off-road sections allowing access to villages and hidden gems. This tour is for medium to advanced level riders, requiring experience in riding around 100km on back-to-back days for maximum enjoyment. It presents both physical and mental challenges. The trip is self-supported, meaning riders carry their own luggage, staying at small hotels/B&Bs en route. Riders can choose between a guided or self-guided trip. Guided trips include the company of guides for assistance. Accommodation is in hand-picked local rural hotels each night, chosen for comfort, location, and authentic Portuguese feel, avoiding hotel chains to support local businesses. Cuisine involves dining at different local restaurants each night, tasting traditional dishes from the Algarve and Alentejo. All meals, including house wine, beer, or soft drinks, are included. Allergies and dietary requirements can be accommodated. The adventure emphasizes experiencing the culture and heritage of the Algarve and Alentejo, including local cuisine, music, wine and liquor making, agriculture, historic monuments, and ancient creative traditions. Included in the tour are 5 spectacular days of cycling, 6 nights of hotel accommodation (based on 2 people sharing, single room supplement available), airport transfers from Faro Airport at the start and to Lisbon Airport at the end, buffet breakfast, GPX files of all stages, personal assistance throughout the booking process, detailed tour information pack, detailed daily itinerary, and liability and personal accident insurance. Not included are flights, lunches, dinners (though recommendations and bookings can be made), and extras such as bike hire or single room supplement. The tour can also be run in the opposite direction (Lisbon to Faro) or as a bespoke variation. The tour itinerary includes 7 days total: 2 travel days, 5 cycling days, and 6 nights. The final night is in Lisbon, allowing for optional extra days in the city. The itinerary details daily distances (70-110km) and elevation gain (800-2100m per day). The itinerary includes: Day 1: Arrival in Faro, transfer to hotel. Day 2: Faro to Alte, cycling along the Algarve coast and Ria Formosa, then inland through traditional towns. Day 3: Alte to Monchique, passing orange groves and avocado fields, with a stop in Silves, followed by a climb to Monchique. Day 4: Monchique to Vila Nova de Milefontes, descending from Monchique, cycling along cliff trails on the west coast. Day 5: Vila Nova de Milefontes to Sétubal, a flat day along the west coast, passing rice fields and a boat trip to Sétubal. Day 6: Sétubal to Lisbon, with views over Parque Natural da Arrábida and a final boat trip to Lisbon. Day 7: Departure from Lisbon Airport. Pricing options include Fully Guided tours for 2-5 people (€1950/person) and 6-11 people (€1550/person), which include a guide, accommodation, breakfast, support vehicle, and luggage transfer.
