Overview

Hanoi to Halong Bay cycling holiday, Vietnam. This week-long, guided tour takes you through gorgeous countryside, national parks, and small villages for authentic cultural experiences. Highlights include cycling around Hanoi, riding through small villages and countryside, sampling local hospitality with a homestay, visiting Pu Luong National Park, Cuc Phuong National Park, Hang Mua Caves, Cat Ba Island, and Halong Bay. You'll stay at the water's edge and kayak around Lan Ha Bay. Maximum 60km/day riding. Price from £819 excluding flights, duration 8 Days, Small group type. Features: Handle-bar height ensures the best views of Vietnam. Get underway in Hanoi. The Vietnamese capital is a wonderfully cycle-friendly city. After getting to know the rest of the group and your tour leader over a welcome dinner, you'll take a guided tour of the city (not missing the chaotically fun Old Quarter) with some free time set aside to enjoy your own exploration. Don’t miss the chance to sample some of the city's incredible street food. On day two you’ll set off through lush, quiet countryside, a world apart from the busy streets of Hanoi. Spectacular karst limestone cliffs loom over paddy fields, and you’ll spend your first night in these surroundings at a homestay with a local hill tribe family. Sharing a meal with them is a fantastic way to get to know about their lives, and tell them a little about your own too. Then it's on, through magnificent national parks, past pineapple farms, peaceful waterways, temples and plenty of sublime viewpoints. Your tour leader ensures the group keeps to schedule, but it's a leisurely one. There’s always time to pause and snap a photo, have a chat with a passing farmer on his water buffalo, or grab a drink from a roadside stall. And naturally you’ll be followed by a support vehicle throughout so any time you need a rest, you can simply hop in. The maximum you’ll travel in a day is around 60km, so regular cyclists should be absolutely fine. Reaching the famous Halong Bay, you’ll stay at a secluded property right on the water's edge in Lan Ha Bay. This is secluded bay, dotted with islands, must be among the most picturesque places in all South East Asia. Having left the bikes behind, you’ll take up paddles for a day spent kayaking around this scenic bay, escaping the tourist routes for some seriously tranquil vibes. Returning to Hanoi, bid your group and tour leader farewell over one final evening meal. Time to head home? Or is cycling from Hanoi to Halong Bay just the start of your Vietnam adventure?
