This cycling tour through Flanders shows you the major highlights of Belgium. This is the perfect ride for anyone interested in the rich Belgium history, art, nature, and cuisine. The Flemish art cities of Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp, Mechelen, Leuven, and Brussels are the most famous and favorite cities of Belgium. This unique trip combines these vibrant historic towns together with the smaller shopping, fashion and food cities of Hasselt and Maastricht. The bike ride in between these lovely towns will show you the variety of landscapes of the northern part of Belgium. The tour starts in Bruges and ends in Maastricht. The tour is self-guided and rated as recreational. The tour involves 6 nights in 3-star hotels with breakfast. Luggage transfer from hotel to hotel is included. A top-class aluminum standard multi-speed bicycle with a handlebar bag and the RidewithGPS navigational app are provided. A personal tour briefing and equipment delivery in Bruges and an end-of-tour meeting and bike pick up in Maastricht are also part of the package. The tour is mostly easy cycling in flat terrain. On the final 2 days of biking, the ride is a bit more challenging due to some more hilly parts, but the ride will never be strenuous. This tour is appropriate for standard touring bikes. The tour starts in Bruges and ends in Maastricht. Nearest airport to the start is Oostende or Brussels, Belgium. Nearest train station to the start is Bruges, Belgium. Nearest airport to the end is Maastricht-Aachen, Holland or Liege, Belgium. Nearest train station to the end is Maastricht, Holland. Bike rental options include: Touring Bicycle (Koga, 8-speed, Gates carbon belt drive, Shimano internal gear hub, disc brakes), Electric Bicycle (KOGA, Bosch mid-drive motor, Gates carbon belt drive), and Road Bicycle (Giant, carbon frames, disc brakes, Shimano components). Children's bicycles and accessories are also available. Included with bike rental are: a toolkit, tire repair kit, mini-pump, cable-lock, water bottle, and breakdown assistance. Optional accessories include a helmet and poncho. Flat pedals are standard, but personal pedals can be fitted. Helmets are not mandatory but available upon request.
