You cycle mostly along the shore of Lake Constance and get to know the small dreamy villages, medieval towns and the Baden-Swabian lifestyle. Take the opportunity to visit the island of Mainau, wander through Constance’s old town or visit the aquariums in the Sea Life Center and go to the Archaeological Museum Constance – Ludwigshafen / Überlingen, approx. 35 – 55 km. First, you cycle along the “Gnadensee” to the former Imperial town of Radolfzell, now a spa resort. From here, you cross the “Bodanrück” range of hills and encounter a very short incline. Arriving at the so-called Überlinger See, part of Lake Constance, you are rewarded for your efforts with beautiful views of the lake. In the evening enjoy a stroll along Überlingen‘s pretty promenade. Überlingen – Friedrichshafen, approx. 35 km. The Lake Constance Cycle Route takes you along the upper lake to Unteruhldingen, where you should visit the pile dwellings. The next destination on the stage is Meersburg with its beautiful old town and old castle. It towers stately over Lake Constance. Take a break in the historical atmosphere before continuing to Friedrichshafen. Visit the Dornier Museum or the Zeppelin Museum. From the 22-metre-high observation tower on the harbour pier, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Alpine panorama. Friedrichshafen – Lindau / Bregenz, approx. 25 / 35 km. Next, you cycle through extensive orchards, through Langenargen with its pretty Montfort Castle, built in the Moorish style. Shortly after you reach the Bavarian town of Lindau, whose harbour is watched over by a 6-metre high lion. The entire old town lies on an island. Lindau – Arbon, approx. 50 km (Cat A), Lindau – Rorschach / Arbon, approx. 45 / 50 km (Cat B). Continuing on your way, you reach Bregenz, the capital of the Vorarlberg region of Austria and famous for its annual festival on the largest lake-stage in the world. You finally reach Höchst where you soon cross the border again and then, after pedaling onwards for a few kilometres, reach Rorschach or Arbon Rorschach – Constance, approx. 30 – 50 km. The last day of your tour takes you through Romanshorn which is home to Switzerland‘s largest harbour on Lake Constance. Now you continue on along the banks of Lake Constance back to Constance. This stretch us flat and easy to cycle, unless in a stronger westerly wind. You will frequently pass places where you can go swimming and refresh yourself in the lovely cool waters of the lake. Let your tour come to a pleasant end with a wander through the old town or an ice cream down at the harbour. Constance – Schaffhausen, approx. 50 km. Following the side of Lake Constance, you pedal to Stein am Rhein with its frescoed, medieval houses. Switching several times between Germany and Switzerland you reach the canton‘s capital, Schaffhausen. The town, whose citizens competed with each other in building gables on their houses, is overlooked by Munot fort. Schaffhausen – Rhine Falls – Constance, approx. 55 / 65 km + boat trips, individual departure. After breakfast, cycle the short distance to the Rhine Falls, one of Europe‘s biggest water falls. Cycling up the Rhine you go back to Stein am Rhein and then follow the Höri semi-peninsula. At Gaienhofen you go aboard the ferry which takes you to the island of Reichenau. From there it‘s only a few kilometres back to Constance. Pick up your luggage in the early evening and depart individually. We are happy to extend your stay.
