Five days of cycling between Lisbon and Setubal, and between Sines and Sagres in the Alentejo and Algarve regions, make up the heart of this breezy coastal seven-day Lisbon to Algarve cycling holiday. Cycle along Portugal's coast - including three days cycling through the massive, beautiful Vincentine Coast National Park - and spend time in Lisbon and Faro at each end of the trip. Coastal cycling certainly has its charms on this holiday. There are sea views, sandy paths, and flat stretches. The wild beaches of the west coast, with their Atlantic views, are your constant companion as you cycle. The first few days are a cycle to Setubal from Lisbon, with swim spots along the way. After transferring to Sagres you'll cycle through the Alentejo region. This region of Portugal is rural and under-visited, despite having lovely local produce and wild beaches. It's a great place to pedal through, stopping for a wine in the evenings after days enjoying the Vincentine Coast. You'll soon arrive in the Algarve - but not as you know it; the west Algarve doesn't resemble the touristic, built up east, at all. This ride stops at Cabo San Vicente, the southwestern most point of mainland Europe. Cycling distances range from 27km to 66km. Between 85 and 90 percent of the rides are on paved surfaces, with a few sections on sandy and unpaved surfaces.
