Munich is renowned for its Oktoberfest, Salzburg for its Festspiele--between these two cultural gems, countless highlights await, both within the cities and along the cycling routes. In the Bavarian capital, enjoy a visit to a traditional beer garden and watch the surfers on the Eisbach before heading toward Bad Tolz, where lively local traditions thrive at every corner. From there, the route takes you through the scenic lake district, from the charming Tegernsee to the so-called "Bavarian Sea." At Chiemsee, admire the boats gliding across the water and consider an optional exploration of its two islands.
