The regions of Puglia and Basilicata occupy the "heel" of Italy's boot, surrounded by the Adriatic and Ionian seas. This self-guided cycling tour begins in the quaint port town of Trani, using secondary paved roads with little traffic, over rolling hills and valleys, ending in the stunning whitewashed town of Ostuni. Cycling mostly on gentle rolling hills, with some steeper and longer climbs. Traffic should not be an issue, but road conditions aren't always perfect, and some of them are quite narrow. On day 5, choose to cycle or spend more time exploring enchanting Matera by foot. 7 nights lodging in 3-4 star hotels or equivalent, all breakfasts, bike fitting and briefing in English by our professional staff at tour start, technical and emergency support, access to RWGPS smartphone app with routes, printed roadbook, and luggage transfers. The tour is available from January 20 to December 1, starting any day from Monday to Saturday. Spring or Fall are highly recommended for cycling, avoiding July and August. Prices for 2026 and 2027 are €1305 per person (double occupancy), with a single supplement of €340. Solo traveler departures are available upon inquiry. Lodging upgrades and extra nights are possible. Bike rental options include Aluminum hybrid bike (€120), E-bike (€240), Carbon road bike (€240), and Carbon gravel road bike (€240) for the duration of the tour. Rentals are collected on day 7. The starting point is Trani. Recommended airport is Bari (BRI). The ending point is Ostuni. Recommended airports are Brindisi (BDS) or Bari (BRI). Both cities are well-connected by train.
