The journey begins amidst the vibrant energy of Munich, a bustling city alive with lively restaurants, shops, museums, and historic architecture. Along this loop tour, the towns display a rich, colorful baroque character--you'll spend nights in places like Bad Tolz, by Lake Starnberg, in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and Wallgau. And naturally, the lakes that lend this tour its name take center stage--from the small, serene Barmsee to the expansive Tegernsee, countless memorable moments by the water await. Overall, this is a gentle tour with daily distances spread out comfortably. A few short climbs can be easily managed by walking your bike if needed. You'll mostly cycle along scenic bike paths and quiet side roads, often following the shores of lakes--with main roads encountered only briefly.
