The Rhone-Route connects between Oberwald and Geneva, passing through three distinct landscapes: the alpine Goms with mostly downhill rides, the widening Rhone valley near Brig which enjoys abundant sunshine, and Villeneuve with its Lake Geneva and vineyards. The route offers scenic and cultural variety with a flat profile suitable for casual cyclists. This tour is rated Level 2, meaning it's hilly in the initial sections in the high valley of Goms. From Brig onwards, the route is flat and suitable for leisure cyclists. Cyclists may encounter headwinds from Sion and will experience the vineyards of Lavaux. Urban sections may involve traffic and busy roads. Included in the tour are 7 overnights in 3-star hotels (or 4-star on request) and 1 night in a hostel in Nyon, daily breakfast, daily luggage transfer (1 piece per person, max 20 kg), a subsidy for train arrival, a wine tasting in Varen (not on Sundays), route descriptions, digital travel documents with a navigation app, a one-year SwitzerlandMobility-Plus subscription, and a service hotline. Optional services include bike rental (195 EUR for a standard bike, 360 EUR for an e-bike), a printed road book (20 CHF per room), tourist tax, and arrival/departure costs. Extra nights can be arranged in Oberwald (from 105 CHF p.p.) and Geneva (from 150 CHF p.p.). The tour is suitable for self-guided cycling with daily departures from June to October. The arrival is by public transport to Oberwald and departure by public transport from Geneva. Car rental in Switzerland and Swiss Rail Passes are available as additional services.
