Overview

A week-long circuit from Rome into the Tuscan heartland, this summer journey balances urban flavor with vineyard country. It opens with a Trastevere food walk, then heads north via Orvieto’s funicular to a family-run vineyard and olive orchard near Baschi for lunch and wine. Based in Tuscany, days unspool at an unhurried clip: Siena’s UNESCO-listed centro storico, a bike ride through Chianti to a local winery, the medieval towers of UNESCO-listed San Gimignano, and a locally guided walk in Florence with a leather craft demonstration. Westward, Pisa’s Leaning Tower and the walled streets of Lucca lead to another tasting, while a later outing points to Montalcino, home of Brunello. The route closes back in Rome, with six breakfasts, one lunch and one dinner included—ample room for gelato stops, trattorie and the measured cadence of summer in central Italy.
