Overview

The quiet face of Mallorca. Mallorca's unspoiled central plain surprises with its richly varied landscapes and sweeping views. Staying in two delightful agroturismos, both with a pool, you enjoy gentle, self-guided cycling routes along quiet lanes while your luggage is transported. Includes 4 nights, 4 dinners, 4 breakfasts, luggage transported, high-quality bicycle, route notes, GPS navigation, and return taxi from Palma airport. Easy cycling for all with shorter days mainly on the flat, but some gentle ascents. Terrain includes farmland, rolling plain, and pretty villages. The quiet lanes wind their way through the patchwork patterns of ancient farms, linking agricultural villages that reveal Mallorca's genuine face. This is a side of the island that few tourists experience, and cycling here is a true delight, especially when combined with our selection of enchanting agroturismos, intimate country estates now offering comfortable rooms, outdoor pools and delicious home-cooked food. According to the season, expect to enjoy the freshest of vegetables and fruit produced on this abundant isle. This highly praised, relaxed cycling route leads you from the Migjorn, the unspoiled coastal plain of sand dunes and salt flats, towards the rural heart of the island through the rolling inland plain known as Es Pla: a landscape of tiny farms, slowly turning windmills, and pretty villages with bustling market days that has remained unchanged for centuries. There is ample opportunity to settle into the local pace and linger over a picnic on the beach, a coffee and delicious local pastry at a pavement café or a long Mediterranean lunch…enjoy! The holiday begins with an easy warm-up ride that winds along quiet lanes between the fascinating inland lagoons and salt flats just behind the coast, which are home to many birds. Your target, reached after a section through pine woods, is the island's longest natural beach, Es Trenc, a great swimming spot with white sand framed by sand dunes. From here, you can choose to extend your ride and visit the small port of Colònia de Sant Jordi, before returning to Campos. You start by cycling north to the market town of Campos, renowned for its windmills, before skirting the hill topped by the Sanctuary of Mont-Sion. Take the optional, challenging ascent to the summit for sweeping views over the rolling plain, before continuing to Porreres. You then follow quiet lanes across large estates dominated by orchards to reach Can Feliu just north of the town. Head out on a delightful circuit through timeless agricultural countryside to reach Felanitx, another traditional town, famed for its capers or 'green pearls' which you can buy at the Sunday morning market. Enjoy a relaxing lunch in the colourful central square, before a gentle ride back to your hotel. Stay in two delightful, family-run agroturismos: Es Torrent in Campos and Can Feliu in Porreres. Both offer comfortable rooms, swimming pools, and delicious home-cooked meals using fresh local produce. The provided bike is a city trekking bike with 21 gears, waterproof map case, panniers/saddlebags, pump, puncture repair kit, and lock. Helmets are included and are a legal requirement in Spain.
