Cycle on Greenways of Girona from Olot to Sant Feliu de Guíxols (option 1 and option 2) with 1 night in Girona city. Easy and short cycle rides along the greenway “El Carrilet”. Enjoy nature away from the crowds: volcanic areas, forests and rivers. Fun at the beach on the last day. Stay in little local hotels and farmhouses. Supported with luggage transfers and an emergency phone number. Depending on their cycling experience and fitness, even younger children—starting from around 5 years old—can enjoy this ride. You'll stay in handpicked accommodations, including quiet and charming small hotels and farmhouses, some of which feature swimming pools, perfect for relaxing after a day of cycling. The tour is filled with diverse and beautiful landscapes to explore with the kids, including volcanic areas, forests, and river marshes—plenty of opportunities for discovery and fun. In Girona, there’s no shortage of things to do. Visit the impressive Cathedral, and wander through the ancient Jewish Quarter, one of the best-preserved in the world. The final stretch of the Greenway leads you gently downhill to the Mediterranean coast. This last section is easy, enjoyable, and takes you through farmlands and woodlands—a scenic and relaxing ride. End the adventure with a well-deserved beach day, soaking up the sun and enjoying the sea. Have a coffee in one of the oldest railway stations converted into bars and restaurants. Meeting the local people, you’ll get to know both people from the mountain and from the sea, with absolutely amazing different stories to share with you. Arrival day: Once you arrive in Olot, you can head straight to your hotel to check-in. After settling in, take some time to explore this charming city, rich in history, culture, and natural beauty. Olot is located in the heart of the most unique volcanic landscape on the Iberian Peninsula, home to around 40 dormant volcanoes. Don’t miss a walk through La Fageda d’en Jordà, a beautiful beech forest renowned for its serene atmosphere and striking scenery. Stage 1: Olot – Les Planes d’Hostoles. We’ll meet you at your hotel in the morning for a welcome meeting to go over the tour details and deliver your bikes. You’ll begin your ride along the Via Verda (greenway) “Carrilet d’Olot,” a converted narrow-gauge railway line now dedicated to cyclists and hikers. These greenways offer a safe and scenic route through some of Catalonia’s most beautiful landscapes. Today’s journey takes you all the way to Les Planes d’Hostoles, passing through the stunning Bas Valley, an area often referred to as the “Catalan Switzerland” for its lush countryside and charming, traditional villages. Stage 2: Les Planes d’Hostoles – Girona. The second stage is the longest of the tour, but it’s mostly downhill and flat, making for a comfortable and enjoyable ride. You’ll follow the Ter River, one of the most important waterways in Catalonia, discovering the rich cultural heritage that has developed along its banks over the centuries. Your ride ends in Girona, where you can spend the rest of the day exploring this remarkable city. Visit the Cathedral, which boasts the widest single nave of Gothic architecture in the world, and wander through the narrow streets of the ancient Jewish Quarter, one of the best preserved in Europe. We also recommend a walk along the Rambla or the medieval city walls, offering fantastic panoramic views of Girona and its surroundings. Stage 3: Girona – Campllong. You’ll leave Girona and rejoin the greenway, heading south through peaceful countryside. Along the way, you’ll pass the village of Quart, known for its traditional ceramics, and Cassà de la Selva, where you can admire beautiful modernist houses in the town center. In the afternoon, enjoy some relaxing time at the nearby farms, where you can have fun interacting with the animals—an experience especially enjoyable for families with children. Stage 4: Campllong - Sant Feliu de Guíxols. The final stage takes you to the charming town of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, known for its beautiful fishing port and rich cultural heritage, especially its historic monastery. Along the way, you’ll pass through Llagostera, a village worth exploring. Take a short ride up to the church for a stunning panoramic view of the landscapes you’ve been cycling through. Once you reach the end of the route, you can relax and enjoy the rest of the day at the beach. Departure day: After breakfast, your trip with us comes to an end. From here, you can continue your journey or head back home. If you’d like to extend your stay and enjoy some extra days at beach, just let us know — we’ll be happy to help.
